FUTURITY 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 2008 NRHA Futurity was a great success for Green Valley Ranch, the Colt Company, and our associates. Probably the most newsworthy thing that happened was that Wimpys Little Step officially became a million dollar sire on Saturday after the open finals, with his offspring competing for only a little more than one year. AMAZING! In addition to that, Green Valley assistant trainer Roy Van der Hoeven was second in the Rookie Professional ancillary class on Hot Little Step. Roy also qualified for the limited open futurity finals on Lil Star Stepper, owned by Green Valley Ranch, and ended up reserve champion in the finals, winning $5,788. Not bad for his first trip to the big futurity! Emily Winegar qualified for the limited non pro futurity finals on Tuf Payin Chex and was reserve champion, winning $6,123. It was also her first time to show a futurity horse. Last of all, Brent Loseke made it to the intermediate open finals on Wimpys Minx and placed fourth, winning over $13,900.
SPOOKS GOT A GUN IS NOW AT GREEN VALLEY!
The great young stallion, SPOOKS GOT A GUN, winner of $65,000, has arrived at Green Valley Ranch where he will stand to the public starting in the 2009 breeding season. This flashy young stallion is sired by GRAYS STARLIGHT and is out of KATIE GUN, who is also the mother of GUNNER. We at Green Valley feel that SPOOK complements our other great stallions, WIMPYS LITTLE STEP, EINSTEINS REVOLUTION, and CHOCOLATE CHIC OLENA, with a nice mixture of outstanding conformation, dynamic performance, first rate bloodlines, and interesting color. We also welcome SPOOK'S owner, Duane Hicks, into our team of outstanding stallion owners. We really believe in a team effort here at Green Valley, and our stallion owners are a huge part of our current and future success.
EINSTEINS REVOLUTION IS NOW AT GREEN VALLEY!
The great young stallion, EINSTEINS REVOLUTION, winner of $330,000 has moved to Green Valley Ranch where he will stand to the public starting in the 2009 breeding season. We at Green Valley are extremely excited about this move. It is our policy to bring in only the very best in the industry, and "Junior" is THE top up and coming young stallion in the world, in our opinion. He will join Wimpys Little Step, Chocolate Chic Olena, and Master Snapper for the upcoming season. Lil Ruf Peppy has been retired and is enjoying his retirement with a few mares in the pasture next to the ranch entrance. Many thanks go out to Ruben van Dorp and Christian Wagner, the owners, for trusting us and giving us this great chance.
NRHA DERBY
The 2008 NRHA DERBY was a great success for everyone involved with Green Valley Ranch. First and foremost, Wimpys Little Chic won both the first go round and the finals, with another 233 score. Wimpys Little Step offspring earnings are now well over $700,000, all based on his first colt crop. Brent Loseke and Crome Shiner advanced to the intermediate finals, missing the open cutoff by 1/2 point. In the finals they scored a 219, which tied them for 5th place. Emily Winegar from Green Valley Ranch won the youth reining, and Roy Van der Hoeven riding Ruf N Refined won the Rookie Professional and the Limited Open ancillary classes. All in all it was a GREAT show!
Brent Loseke would like to personally thank Shawn Flarida for the advice and help at the NRHA Derby. Without it, Brent and Crome Shiner more than likely would not have done nearly as well. If you have not already done so, Brent would like to encourage you to visit Shawn's new website, www.thegreenshirt.com.
NEW ADDITION TO THE COLT COMPANY BROODMARE BAND
We at the Colt Company are happy to announce the addition of a great new mare to our small but select broodmare band. A few years ago Martha Randall of Quail Hill Ranch at Whitesboro, Texas sent QHR JAMAICA EXPRESS to Brent Loseke for training and to be shown. Brent started out that year with the intention of getting a small record on her so Martha could use her as a broodmare eventually. To make a long story short, by the end of the year JAMAICA was the high point AQHA reining mare in the nation, Superior Reining Horse, and top ten at the AQHA World Championship Show. Brent made Martha an open offer that if she ever wanted to sell the mare, he would like to know. Recently Brent got the phone call that he had been waiting on and the deal was quickly done. JAMAICA is the bay mare on the top of the winners page on this website. She will be bred to Wimpys Little Step for a 2009 foal. Thanks Martha!
BRENT LOSEKE IS NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2009 APPRENTICE PROGRAM
Although it seems like a long way off, Brent Loseke is making plans and taking applications from young people who are willing to spend at least one year as apprentices with Brent at Green Valley Ranch. If interested, applicants should contact Brent by e-mail, and be prepared to shoot a video of them riding, preferably on a young horse. This is not a program for beginning riders. The more experience you have, the better.
